About Megan
Megan Hirons Mahon, CFPh, brings over two decades of diverse photography experience to Igro Communications. Known for her ability to capture authentic moments, Megan’s work reflects the complexity, beauty, and emotional depth of life.
From 2013 to 2022, Megan led the photo department at Communications Nova Scotia, the communications arm of the Nova Scotia government.
In this role, she managed large-scale visual campaigns, mentored photographers, and created powerful imagery that communicated government priorities and community stories.
Since 2018, Megan has served as a Senior Forensic Photographer with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service. In this capacity, she specializes in documenting forensic autopsies, scenes and evidence with precision, employing alternative light source (ALS) and infrared (IR) photography. Megan is one of only two IAI-certified forensic photographers in Canada.
Her career has included impactful international work. From 2006 to 2011, Megan was a staff photographer at Gulf News in Dubai, where she documented major stories across the Middle East, including assignments in Gaza, Uganda, and the Comoros Islands. In 2012, she traveled across Canada as part of the Rick Hansen Relay, capturing the stories of inspiring individuals driving change in their communities.
Whether documenting the nuances of everyday life, high-stakes forensic cases, or global events, Megan’s passion lies in using visual storytelling to connect people, ideas, and experiences.
